Country Villa South Convalescent Center is a 87-bed nursing home in Palms, Los Angeles that was recently hit with a coronavirus outbreak, previously having reported 73 positive cases (58 patients and 15 staff). Now, it is opening its doors to patients from other facilities and hospitals who have tested positive for COVID-19 as well, in hopes of helping prevent others from getting infected. Though the facility is almost at capacity and the demand for space is surging, many families have rallied around the long-term care center, expressing their support and gratitude.

“There is a stigma to having this,” said Dr. Silver “Here’s a place that would welcome you and provide you all the support and care you need and that we’re here to help. We are hopefully helping those patients not only on the physical side but also on the emotional side as well.”

Officials in Los Angeles said they have now opened 2 other facilities to replicate what Country Villa South has achieved, and they are trying their best to get the staff the protective gear they need to stay safe. Let’s help them get enough PPE, everyone! Read more at https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2020/04/25/nursing-home-opens-its-doors-to-care-for-coronavirus-patients/
